A quick post then a break from blogging for a couple weeks while I get some actual work done. Here we've got the One North Fifth apartment building, on the corner of Congress and Fifth Ave., above a beautiful mural that fronts Arizona Avenue. There's a long parking lot sandwiched in between--a challenge for my short lens. I'm not sure how this works as a location, but downtown Tucson is chockablock with funky juxtapositions that you can take advantage of. One North Fifth used to be a public housing facility, built in 1969--"a brutish block of a building with a bad rap." That 60s vibe can now be put to good use by location managers, but low-income tenants weren't completely forgotten; the newly-renovated MLK Building at Depot Plaza public housing tower is right next door.
Have a great rest of your August and stay tuned for some vintage Old Tucson shots later this month!
